Flying Kite Contest;

Yesterday, I went to see the Flying Kite Contest to next city's beach this year again. The weather condition was worse this year.  So cloudy and the wind was too strong.

This kite is called "oniyouzu,鬼ようず".  It is an old tradition (since 8 century) at an island in my prefecture. It is made when the first boy in the family was born wishing his prosperity and flown in the new year.

This kite didn't work; and the man close to him was explaining what was wrong.

According to the Chinese zodiac sign, this year is the horse year. 

They made this kite with the cartoon character (doraemon) and posed for me :-)

People starting to gather, I saw many kids with parents♡♡♡

Flying Kite Contest

This 3rd, we have been to see 'Flying Kite Contest' held at next city along the beach. There are some categories (kids, linked kites, etc.) awarded by its beauty. The big ones were flown by the guest, who came from Kyushu, for kind of a demonstration.

These are made by contestants.  

He kindly show his before flying it♬♬♬　Especially for the linked ones, it might be better for the enlarged ones(^^;)　  I DO wish to be able to use SLR camera for taking the view of the sky; I still can not be bold enough to buy and try p;)  So please forgive my fiddling the pictures.

*Quick post of flying kite*

My next neighbor's two children flew kites this new year♡♡♡

One is the dragon design their father made for last year (last year was the dragon year). The other is the work using the calligraphy kit done by 2nd year of elementary boy. The letter means "snake, へび”　written in hiragana character. He is learning calligraphy from a teacher living close to us who happened to be my old student.
