*Calligraphy Exhibition*

On 6th, my retired husband's ex-lady colleagues demonstrated writing larger paper, rather than 25cm×35cm 半紙 (hanshi). This time I found attractive way of exhibiting and works on corrugated cardboards or round shaped plastic balls with seasonal items in them.  Lovely to find the names of the season written both English and Japanese.

Calligraphy Exhibition and Girl's in Kimono;

Last Saturday, my husband and I've been to the calligraphy exhibition of 'genyukai school' to our 'city cultural hall' located right next to 'city music hall'  ←link.  

   I wish you to enjoy the artistic Japanese calligraphy;  I'll skip lengthy translation :-)

              *Girls who attended 'First Dance Recital'* 

The lady 'who wrote the secound work in this post 'my husband's ex-colleague' told me about these girls.  One of them (right edge) is her niece we've met once before attended the dance recital wearing kimono. She's wearing the handmade kimono sewn by her grandmother. It was held at the hotel located right next to the cultural hall.  So we could walk to see them.    How we wished to see them dance :-)

She sent me her niece's photos later taken by cellphone.

You might remember my post of First Calligraphy of the Year on Jan.18th. The other ex-lady-colleague of my husband who is also a member of the same "genyuukai" calligraphy school came to my house with two friends to practice bigger sized work. From my request, they wrote the beautiful work on top together for us.   

These four words means a lot for me :-)

Arrived and Preparation

Worked hard; they continued writing and hanging works to dry many times!

I wish I could show you more works. The Buddha shaped doll is to pull the string.

First Calligraphy of the Year, "kakizome, 書き初め" ;

My husband's ex-lady-collage is a member of the "genyuukai" calligraphy school；

She kindly informed us about the "kakizome, 書き初め" by the school held at our city airport. Three calligraphers (including the president) showed us working on the big paper. Using their whole body, DYNAMIC works were done♪

They were having interview from the radio program.
I put the performers with the right order with their works in the picture above.

          They worked with the background music;

*First Performer (my husband's ex-lady colleague)*

She is wearing the kind of 'kimono type' clothes her mother sewed for her.

"誰の胸にもひとつ打ち鳴らせ心臓の音"

"Beat out one of your heartbeat to everyone's heart"

Her work is from the lyric of the song called "AH Yeah" sung by the Japanese singers called "スキマスイッチ. sukimasuicchi".

"ありのままで"   "Let it go"

"風に舞" 　"Dancing in the wind"

Let me show you the glass seal they're using for their works, which their calligrapher names on them, specially made by the local glass atelier.

            

Extra;  For the last,　inside of her haori-coat she was wearing a T-shirt her master's calligraphy was printed.

Calligraphy partⅡ;

Among the many calligraphy work from the exhibition I introduced in previous post, this work caught my attention and wished to show you separately. 

The title on the board said "Enjoyable pictograph (ancient script)" and shows how these four Chinese Character was formed. You can see the process with the picture in each work.

*I'll explain each one from left to right*

立.stand; This character is made from the image of a person standing with two legs. 

門.gate;　Imaged from the gate with Two Doors (right and left) where people can go in and out.

果.nut;  Imaged the nuts on the tree. This characther has the meaning of 'accomplish'.

龍.dragon;  For this character, explained only meaning of the word  (hugeness. blessing. tendresse） and dragon brings clouds and rain.

I feel so sorry that I didn't translate the meaning of the works. Please consider them as art with ink and brush.

"butterfly dancing around flowers"; 

so discouraged with the light put my reflection in the glass...
